Selected as a Winner of the
Gmarket DNA Awards
DNA of Gmarket
In 2022, Gmarket did a significant update to its organizational culture with the Gmarket DNA, aiming to define a culture that aligns with our current status. The DNA restructuring at Gmarket sought to encapsulate a shared mission, vision, and work ethos among employees. Completed under the consensus of 'Our Co-Created DNA,' Gmarket's mission, vision, and eight working principles are as follows:
PUT CUSTOMER FIRST :
The beginning and end of every task should involve the customer.
COMMIT TO CHALLENGE :
What we fear is not failure but the legacy that hinders challenges.
BE AGILE :
Let's start fast, execute, and improve along the way.
BE THE BRAND :
My work is soon to become my brand.
RESPECT EACH OTHER :
Discussions should be intense, respect should be profound.
WORK AS ONE TEAM :
For those who draw a line between your work and mine, there is no tomorrow.
BE TRANSPARENT :
To become one, sharing comes first.
ACT WITH INTEGRITY :
Let's choose the right way rather than the easy way.
Be Agile!
Among these, the award I received was the 'BE AGILE' award. I had participated in a project designing the initial model for a reservation platform called 'Moana,' and it seems that my performance resonated well with this award.
Reason for recommendation : Agile Work Approach through Swift Direction Setting in the Early Stages and Prototype Sharing
- Intensively contemplated the goals and criteria for designing the prototype from the early stages and swiftly crafted versions.
- Rapidly designed prototypes were meticulously analyzed from a user perspective, emphasizing user-centric flow design.
- Actively pursued new attempts beyond the basic flow, voluntarily supported other projects, and aimed to carry momentum found in one place to another.
Understanding the holistic flow of the entire user experience (UX)/user interface (UI) is crucial, as agile working involves iteratively reviewing connected scenarios rather than focusing on individual frozen frames.
Rapidly designing in the early stages is essential. In the initial phases of prototyping, I sometimes start with the bare minimum, using simple shapes (rectangles, circles) to unfold the flow. The process of filling in the details of the design truly begins in earnest once the prototyping is complete. During this process, I discuss issues discovered or hypotheses that need validation not only with designers but also with planners and developers. Feedback is incorporated at each stage, gradually refining the prototype. Continuously listening to and incorporating user feedback is also immensely helpful. Since the purpose of using the same service can vary among individuals, I believe conducting usability tests (UT) whenever possible allows us to quickly gain insights into overlooked aspects and apply them promptly. In terms of team communication, we hold weekly meetings using the 'Scrum' methodology. Seeking insights from a user perspective on points overlooked from an operator's standpoint is an ongoing process during these meetings.
I was delighted to receive such an honorable award. It helped me identify my strengths, and I realized that I should leverage these abilities even more effectively in my future career. Thanks to this experience, I could wrap up 2023 with a positive mindset. Let's continue to act agilely and embrace new challenges!
